Know Your Lipid State
Fasting Lipid Profile (FLP)

Committed To Healthy Living
FLP is a complete cholesterol test used to measure the amount of good and bad Cholesterol and Triglycerides, a type of fat in the blood.
It requires 9-12 hours to minimize variation, since eating can affect some lipid level. However, the test may be measured any time of the day without fasting as well.
Cholesterol is a soft, waxy fat, produced in the liver that your body needs to make hormones, vitamin D and other substances to function properly, which are of two types;
the GOOD and BAD.
GOOD CHOLESTEROL( HDL)
High-density, Lipoprotein absorbs cholesterol and carries it back to the liver, then the liver flushes it out from the body.
BAD CHOLESTEROL(LDL)
Low-density, Lipoprotein makes up most of the body’s cholesterol. High levels of LDL cholesterol raise your risk for heart disease and stroke.
WHY FLP NEEDS TO BE CHECKED
An excess amount of blood lipids can cause fat deposits in your artery walls, increasing your risk for heart disease.
